Please explain to me why a sixteen-year-old boy can be charged with a crime for having sex. Then please explain to me why a sixteen-year-old girl can’t.

Also, really? “Defilement”?

I’d say it probably stems from the idea of the female as the passive, “receiving” partner in the sex act… which is pretty sexist toward both boys and girls, the more I think about it.

As for “defilement”… ugh, that really grinds my gears. Consensual sex is defiling? What kind of message are we really sending kids if we’re calling sex defiling?

UGH, so angry now.
